Police: Pedestrian, Vehicle Collide in College Ave. Intersection; Man Drove Drunk to Hospital

A pedestrian and a vehicle collided about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at West College Avenue and Burrowes Street, State College police said Wednesday.

The pedestrian, identified as a 20-year-old woman, went later to Mount Nittany Medical Center with complaints of lower-left-leg and lower-back pain, according to a police report.

An unidentified, northbound vehicle had been turning left from Burrowes onto College when it collided with the woman, police said. She had been crossing College Avenue and told police she had the right of way, the report shows.

The vehicle’s driver rolled down a window and asked the pedestrian if she were OK, but ‘did not wait for an appropriate answer’ and left the scene, police said.

The pedestrian was not cited in connection with the incident.

Also Wednesday, police said a man will be charged with DUI after he drove to Mount Nittany Medical Center while intoxicated. That happened about 9 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The man had been going to the hospital to get some pain medication, according to a police report.

Police said the incident will mark the man’s seventh DUI. His name was not immediately released.

In a separate matter, two GPS units were reported stolen Tuesday from two vehicles parked on Kuhns Lane. One is valued at $110; the other has no immediately listed value, police said.
