Police: Over State Patty’s, Five Urination Incidents Caught on Cedarbrook Cameras

State Patty’s Day weekend went from green to yellow at a downtown apartment building, State College police records show.

The Cedarbrook building, 320 E. Beaver Ave., saw at least five separate public-urination incidents over the drinking holiday last month, police said Wednesday.

All five were captured by surveillance cameras in the building, according to police reports. None involved Penn State students.

In one incident, police said, a Bloomsburg University was caught relieving himself into a washing machine. Another Bloomsburg student was spotted relieving himself in a laundry room, as well, reports show.

At another point, two young women from Philadelphia were seen urinating in a fourth-floor laundry room, police said. The women had been cited for underage drinking in State College earlier in the weekend.

Separately, a Philadelphia man was busted for urinating into a laundry-room washtub at Cedarbrook, police said. And another man — a non-Penn State student — was caught urinating in a Cedarbrook stairwell, they said.

All six people are facing citations, police said. The individuals were identified after staff with A.W. and Sons, which manages Cedarbrook, reviewed in-house surveillance footage from State Patty’s Day weekend.

Started by some Penn State students in 2007, the State College drinking holiday — conceived as a St. Patrick’s Day alternative — was held the weekend of Feb. 25 this year. It has become one of the busiest times of year for local emergency responders, though reported police-call volumes declined slightly for 2012.

More than 60 people were treated in the Mount Nittany Medical Center emergency department for alcohol-related issues over the weekend. As in prior years, many of those cited or arrested had been visiting from outside the State College area.
