Police: Man Found Passed Out in Driver’s Seat, Will Be Charged With DUI

A man celebrating his 21st birthday was found passed out behind the wheel early Monday in College Township, State College police said.

It happened around 3 a.m. at Transfer Road and East College Avenue, according to a police report. Police said the man’s vehicle, in gear and idling, was stopped in the intersection while he slept in the driver’s seat.

A DUI charge against the man is pending, according to the police report. His blood-alcohol level was recorded at 0.206. The threshold for DUI in Pennsylvania is 0.08.

Because he had yet to be charged formally, the man’s name was not immediately released.

In other State College police reports Monday:

• Items worth about $600 were reported stolen Sunday evening from a car in College Township. The items, including a Garmin GPS device, a radar detector, prescription sunglasses and an iPhone charger, were taken at 110 Mitch Ave., police said.

• Two theft-from-vehicle incidents were reported between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday — one each in State College borough and College Township. In the borough, a laptop was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 500 block of South Allen Street. In the township, a .22-caliber Walther pistol and a Garmin GPS device were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle at 168 Kuhns Lane. The pistol is a semi-automatic model, police said.
