Penn State Pro Day: Jared Odrick Offers Up Some Advice for Devon Still

Former Penn State defensive tackle Jared Odrick was a first-round NFL Draft pick of the Miami Dolphins two years ago.

Odrick was at Holuba Hall on Wednesday for Penn State’s annual Pro Day, and he had some sage advice for the Nittany Lions’ latest All-American defensive tackle, Devon Still.

He, too, is projected to be a first-round pick in April’s draft.

“I would say, ‘Work hard and watch your money,’ ” said Odrick, who signed a five-year deal worth a guaranteed $7.133 million after the Dolphins made him the 28th pick overall in 2010. His contract has a maximum value of $13 million.

“Football is a business. You like to be able to help people out and take care of them, but you have to be careful who you hang around with.”

After being slowed late last season by a back bad and turf toe injury, Still turned in a 4.95 40-yard dash on Wednesday before NFL scouts from 24 teams, besting his clocking of 5.06 set last month at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Still, 6-feet-5, 300 pounds, felt it was important to run a good time Wednesday.

“I feel like I didn’t put my best foot forward at the Combine,” said Still, who is the father of a 22-month-old daughter. “I’m still not 100 percent recovered (from turf toe), but I feel a lot better about
my performance today.”
