Penn State: More Employees Subpoenaed as State Continues Sandusky Investigation

The state Office of the Attorney General has subpoenaed this week “a number” of additional Penn State employees, the university announced Friday.

The subpoenas were issued as the AG’s office continues its child-sexual-abuse investigation into former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky and related cover-up claims.

“We believe it is appropriate that it be left up to (the subpoenaed parties) and their attorneys whether to reveal their identities,” Penn State counsel Cynthia Baldwin wrote in a prepared statement. “The university will have no further comment, consistent with our past policies regarding the ongoing investigations.”

Last month, Penn State received a subpoena from U.S. attorneys conducting their own investigative work at the university. That subpoena sought hard drives used by former Penn State President Graham Spanier, retired Vice President for Finance and Business Gary Schultz and suspended athletic director Tim Curley. Schultz and Curley have been charged with perjury and failure to report.

They, like Sandusky, have maintained that they are innocent.
