It’s catching on at college campuses across the nation, and now you can add Penn State to the list of universities that are going to the dogs. The university’s Center for Counseling and Psychological Services hosted a freewheeling event Tuesday afternoon, dubbed Fun for Finals.

Hundreds of college students crammed onto the lawn in front of the Student Health Center to do some serious stress busting.

They were blowing giant bubbles and trying their hand (and hips) at hula hooping.

But the big draw was the dogs. Volunteers from the Mt Nittany Dog Training Club shared their well-mannered pooches with students — and at times it looked as if the entire student body was waiting for a chance to pet a dog. Just the thing to relieve all that pre-exam stress.

Fun for Finals was so wildly popular that they’ll, “try to hold the event at the end of every term,” says Center for Counseling and Psychological Services Director Dennis Heitzmann. Heitzmann jokingly suggested that the canine “counselors” might put his center out of business.
