A Penn State fraternity member is sentenced to jail for his role in a vicious assault. The victim had his jaw broken in two places, requiring three operations to repair. The injured man also suffered permanent nerve damage in his face and will need additional surgeries.
Allen Klenotiz, 23, was convicted of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. He will serve 90 days to 23-and-a-half months at the Centre County Correctional Facility.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, the assault took place outside the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity in the early morning hours of November 14, 2010. Klenotiz was part of a group that confronted two men outside the fraternity and accused the men of throwing a brick into a window.
Klenotiz struck the victim four or five times in the face. Afterwards, he reportedly bragged about “breaking” the victim who is approximately sixty pounds lighter than Klenotiz.
In court, District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller told the judge, “Nothing short of a sentence of imprisonment would be appropriate for such a brutal explosion of force… over such a petty matter.”
