Penn State Football: Two More Players Invited to All-Star Games

Two more former Penn State football players were invited to a postseason all-star game, the university announced Monday, bringing the total number to 10.

Kick snapper Jon Rohrbaugh and tight end Andrew Szczerba will play in the Astroturf NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on Jan. 21 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

Rohrbaugh made 72 perfect snaps on the season, according to Penn State, and one tackle.

Szczerba finished with 12 catches for 101 yards last season, tying him for fourth on the team in receptions. At the senior banquet, Szczerba won the Robert B. Mitinger, Jr. Award, given to the senior who exhibits courage, character and social responsibility.

He lost his uncle on Sept. 16, when New Castle County Police Sgt. Joseph Szczerba was stabbed to death in the line of duty. Additionally, Szczerba missed all of 2010 with a back injury.

In total, 10 former players were invited to all-star games. Defensive tackle Devon Still, defensive end Jack Crawford, offensive guard Johnnie Troutman and cornerback D’Anton Lynn will play in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 28.

Offensive tackle Quinn Barham, safety Drew Astorino, and running back Stephfon Green are scheduled to play in tonight’s Casino Del Sol All-Star Game, and safety Nick Sukay will play in the Jan. 21 East-West Shrine Game as a linebacker.
