Penn State Football: Philly Native McGlinchey Interested In Nittany Lions

As Penn State coach Bill O’Brien looks to continue his recruiting momentum in the coming weeks, Mike McGlinchey could be another four-star recruit added to the Nittany Lions’ growing list of high-profile verbal commitments.

McGlinchey, a 6-foot-7, 265-pound offensive tackle from William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia, has had Penn State among his list of possible schools since receiving a scholarship offer from O’Brien’s coaching staff last month.

“My recruiting is going very well,’ McGlinchey said. ‘I’m up to 20 offers and Penn State is high on my list. I have been really impressed with Coach O’Brien the times that I have spoken with him. And everything I hear about him is great as well.”

McGlinchey also holds scholarship offers from several other major college programs, including Michigan State, Florida, Notre Dame, Michigan, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

He is one of the top offensive line prospects in the 2013 class by ESPN and was named co-MVP of his high school team following his junior season.

McGlinchey represents one of several offensive line recruits who already have been offered scholarships by Penn State. 

Others include offensive tackles Brendan Mahon (6-4, 305) from Randolph N.J., Hunter Bivin (6-7, 290) from Owensboro, Ky., and Dorian Johnson (6-6, 275) from Belle Vernon, along with guard Donta Wilkins (6-3, 315) from Dumfries, Va.
