Penn State community reacts to Sandusky investigation press conference

People across the state gathered to watch a news conference Monday afternoon concerning the Jerry Sandusky investigation, including a group of students on Penn State’s University Park campus.

During that press conference, Attorney General Linda Kelly said Joe Paterno is not a target in this investigation because he acted appropriately.

Penn state students who spoke to 6 News have mixed opinions.

“I know Curley’s his boss, but I think something this serious should’ve gone to the police,” said Meagan Waller, PSU senior.

“It just bothers me that people are calling for Joe Pa’s retirement. For all that man has done for the university. And he did what he had to do,” said Alex Kurshetsky, PSU freshman.

“Hoping he comes out OK. He did do what he was supposed to do,” said Jonathan Welch, PSU senior.

In Penn State’s alma mater, the lyrics are ‘may no act of ours bring shame.’ Although Joe PA acted accordingly, students fear the scandal may still bring shame.

“I think it’s very unfortunate, for all he’s done. That one thing like this could eliminate all that is very unfortunate.”

There is one last home game this season. Paternoville will be open for campers Monday night.
