The nomination period opened on Sunday for the three alumni-elected seats on the Penn State’s Board of Trustees. Incumbent trustees Alice Pope, Bob Jubelirer, and Al Lord are all facing the end of their three-year terms.

Alumni should receive a nomination ballot via email if they have a valid address on file. Those who haven’t received a ballot can request one here.

Pope announced that she is seeking re-election and the other incumbents are expected to follow. Additionally, 1986 graduate Robert Bowsher announced a campaign. Last year’s alumni election ultimately included only one non-incumbent on the ballot in 2008 grad Dan Cocco, but the three incumbents (Ted Brown, Barbara Doran, and Bill Oldsey) won their seats back.

Nominations are open through 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. Alumni need 250 nominations to be added to the ballot, which will be sent on Monday, April 10. The election will close at 9 a.m. on May 4. Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students are not eligible to participate in the election.

Other elections for the 38-member board also will take place this year.

– Two trustees will be elected by delegates of the state’s agricultural societies and associations, with the terms of Keith Masser and Betsy Huber set to expire.

– Two business and industry trustees will be elected by a selection group composed of seven trustees. The terms of Daniel Mead and Walter Rakowich end this year.

– One at-large trustee, nominated by a selection group of nine trustees, will be chosen with the term of Matthew Schuyler coming to an end.

– A student trustee will be nominated by a selection group of 11 members that includes the leadership of student government groups, the current student trustee, and at-large student members. Luke Metaxas has held the seat since 2015.

David Kleppinger and Alex Hartzler were appointed by Gov. Tom Wolf in December to replace Cliff Benson and Paul Silvis, whose terms had expired. The governor has six appointees on the board, and the terms of Allison Goldstein and Mark Dambly are scheduled to expire this year.
