Penn State basketball will travel to Georgetown to face the Hoyas as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games, an annual meeting of teams from the Big Ten and Big East, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS.

Georgetown is the latest team to hit the Nittany Lions’ [not yet official] schedule as Penn State is set to face Bucknell, Yale, Alabama, and two of the three teams in a grouping of Syracuse, Ole Miss and Oklahoma State as part of the NIT Preseason Tip-Off in Brooklyn.

In addition to a game in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, several other meetings are set to be released in the coming weeks and months.

All of Penn State’s schedule, and what to make of its strength and potential will continue to be discussion tabled for at least 24 more hours as fans, coaches and teammates await the NBA Draft decision of rising senior forward Lamar Stevens. The Philadelphia product has until Wednesday night to withdraw his name from the NBA Draft pool and return for his final season of collegiate eligibility.

With Stevens, the Nittany Lions are in the very least a respectable Big Ten contender. Without him, and likely without the services of rising sophomore Rasir Bolton, who entered the NCAA transfer portal and is slated to make his decision soon, Penn State faces a much steeper climb.

Nevertheless, Chambers’ latest season at the helm looks to be full of marquee opponents. How that translates to the Nittany Lions’ resume is a question for much farther down the road.
