Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics officially announced that it will be participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day of impact that will be held tomorrow.
#GivingTuesday was created in 2012 and is a global day of giving, fueled essentially by the power of social media and collaboration.
On the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, which includes holiday and end-of-year giving.
Penn State coaches, student-athletes, and staff will spend part of #GivingTuesday by engaging in the community. Fans can share their community service and why they give with other Penn Staters on Twitter by using #WeAreGiving on #PSUGivingTues.
Penn State Athletics is challenging all alumni and fans to make a gift to the Levi Lamb Annual Fund or Morgan Academic Center on #GivingTuesday in support of creating the best conditions for academic and athletic success for Nittany Lion student-athletes.
Those who make a gift of $50 or more on Dec. 1 will receive double the standard amount of Nittany Lion Club points for their contribution however gifts must be made at the official Penn State athletics #GivingTuesday website.
Levi Lamb Annual Fund
Contributions to the Levi Lamb Annual Fund go directly towards awarding scholarships to student-athletes from all of Penn State’s 31 varsity sports. Increasing contributions to the annual fund will make it possible to acquire the needed resources for the student-athlete cost of attendance stipends and new nutritional needs. These two areas directly impact the Nittany Lion student-athletes. Giving to the annual fund on #GivingTuesday will make a significant difference in student-athlete support.
Morgan Academic Center Project
By supporting the new Morgan Academic Center (Bridge to the Future Fund) is an exciting opportunity to invest in projects that will include a sustainable impact on all Penn State student-athletes. The new Morgan Academic Center will create the most student-centered support space possible that will only further ensure that all Penn State student athletes will be able to succeed academically, athletically, socially and professionally. This facility will be able to accommodate more than 800 student-athletes and integrate all academic support staff and services under one roof.
Fans can follow student-athletes, coaches and staff in the community on Penn State Athletics social media and by visiting this website.
Penn Staters who donate their time or resources on Dec. 1 are strongly encouraged to use the hashtags #WeAreGiving on #PSUGivingTue on Twitter.
