State College Area High School football will celebrate its past, present and future on Friday night at Memorial Field.
As part of State High’s second football alumni recognition night, and former head football coach and athletic director Ron Pavlechko and his family will be honored in a ceremony on the field before the 7 p.m. game between State High and Hollidaysburg.
The recognition night — a joint effort of the school district, , the SCASD Education Foundation, the football team and the State College Booster Club — also will welcome State High football alumni from across the years. They’ve been invited to a pregame reception at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and to stand on the home sideline during the game.
Pavlechko spent more than 40 years with State College Area School District. He was an English teacher spent 19 years as head football coach and 15 years as athletic director.
Kindergarten students from throughout the district also will get some special recognition on Friday. They’ll receive free admission and gifts by wearing their maroon class of 2030 shirts. A special section has been reserved for kindergarten students and their families and they will be greeted by Little Lions players at 6:35 p.m.
State High is 1-0 on the season after defeating J.P. McCaskey, 45-12, in the Little Lions’ opener last week. Hollidaysburg comes into the game with a 2-0 record.
