Patton Township police will put a focus on aggressive-driving enforcement March 19 through April 29, including along the North Atherton Street corridor, they announced this week.
The enforcement focus will be part of a statewide effort this spring, according to a news release. It involves more than 320 municipal police departments and the state police, the release notes.
Township police have asked drivers to keep a distance from motorists who speed, tailgate and run red lights. Police departments that participated in the enforcement wave last year wrote 142,013 citations for aggressive driving.
The effort this year is funded with $2.3 million in federal monies distributed through the state Department of Transportation, police said.
