An Ohio woman died after a single-vehicle crash on Friday night in Pine Grove Mills, Ferguson Township police said on Monday.
The 78-year-old was driving on the 200 block of Water Street at 10:48 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a sharp turn on Pine Grove Mountain, a preliminary investigation found.
Her vehicle left the roadway and traveled about 150 feet before coming to rest against a drainage ditch, police wrote in a release.
The woman, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was flown by helicopter to UPMC Williamsport, where she was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Her name is being withheld pending family notifications.
Ferguson Township police and the Centre County Crash Reconstruction Team continue to investigate. Centre Lifelink EMS and Alpha Fire Company assisted at the scene.
