The transformation has begun.

When I took over as managing editor two weeks ago, I promised some changes to the look of StateCollege.com. Our Web site is an online community center, and we’re constantly looking to live up to our slogan: One city. One site.

Earlier today, we went live with a Web page dedicated to the State College Area School District. You can find it here and have at your fingertips everything you need to know as the first day of school begins Thursday. You can find out what’s on the calendar, what’s on the grill and what’s on the school board’s agenda.

Parents: We know how important it is for you to stay in touch. You have plenty to talk about amongst yourselves. Are you looking forward to the high school’s first football game? Is the first day of school too early/too late? What are you hoping will be different about this year? Join the discussion at our Parents Forum, created just for those with children in the State College Area School District. The link is at the bottom of the aforementioned Web page.

Coming up next is our State College Area High School Sports page, where you’ll find all the information you need to keep track of some of the area’s best teen athletes. In fact, check it out on Friday evening to stream live coverage of the football team’s first game of the season, courtesy of ESPN Radio 1450. Then check back every week for the high school athletes of the week.

We’re committed to living up to our promises, and we want StateCollege.com to continue to be the one place you need for everything State College. If there’s something missing that would be helpful to you and other parents, e-mail or call me. Questions, concerns and, as always, gratuitous praise are always welcome. The information is below.
