A new judge was assigned to preside over Jerry Sandusky’s preliminary hearing after questions arise over the original district justice and her relationship to the Second Mile charity, which was founded by Sandusky.
The Pennsylvania courts system assigned Westmoreland County Senior Judge Robert Scott to the hearing, noting that he has no ties to Penn State or Second Mile.
The change came after it was learned that District Justice Leslie Dutchcot received $1,000 in campaign contributions in 2007 from the chairman of the Second Mile. Dutchcot was criticized for setting bail for Sandusky well below what the attorney general’s office recommended.
