Christine Millinder will run for a third term as Centre County register of wills and clerk of the Orphans’ Court, she announced on Thursday.
Millinder was first elected to the position running as a Republican in 2015 and launched a successful reelection bid in 2019 for a second straight term. She previously worked in the office for 28 years as a clerk and deputy register of wills.
“Millinder has been honored to serve in this office and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to continue to do so,” according to a press release.
As Centre County’s register of wills, Millinder is responsible for probating wills and granting letters of administration for cases in which a person dies without leaving a will behind. She also maintains records of wills, estate inventories and other related documents, all while acting as an agent of the Commonwealth for collecting inheritance taxes.
While also serving as clerk of the Orphans’ Court, Millinder issues marriage licenses and maintains marriage records in Centre County. Additionally, she works to process and maintain guardianship documents and reports for minors and incapacitated individuals.
Outside of her work in Centre County, Millinder serves as the president of the Registers of Wills & Clerks of Orphans’ Court Association. She also serves on several of the association’s committees, including those focusing on finance, nominations and electronic wills.
Millinder is a member of Bellefonte’s Faith United Methodist Church and serves on the congregation’s board of trustees. She is also an associate member of the Bald Eagle Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 51.
The municipal primary election is May 16. Candidates can circulate and file nomination petitions starting on Feb. 14.
Millinder is the latest Centre County row office official to announce a reelection campaign. So far, she joins incumbents Coroner Scott A. Sayers, Recorder of Deeds Joseph Davidson, Controller Jason Moser, Prothonotary Jeremy Breon and Sheriff Bryan Sampsel.
