After defeating Erie McDowell 35-14 to win the subregional playoff, State College Area football (10-1) advanced to the PIAA Class 6A playoffs where it will take on Williamsport (11-1).
The game is now set for 7 p.m. on Friday at Selinsgrove High School. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals on Nov. 25 or 26.
Williamsport is making its first state playoff appearance since 1995. The Millionaires won the District 2-4 subregional with a 55-21 victory at home over Delaware Valley on Friday. Running back Treyson Potts score five touchdowns while rushing for 141 yards.
State High claimed the District 6-10 subregional behind Noah Woods’ three catches, all touchdowns, for 117 yards.
Girls Volleyball
State High girls volleyball, meanwhile, will take on Garnet Valley in the PIAA Class AAAA semifinals at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg.
The Lady Little Lions, who this season won their first Mid-Penn Conference Championship, are 22-0 after knocking off District 7 Seneca Valley in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
The State High-Garnet Valley winner will advance to the championship match against the winner of the other semifinal between Bishop Shanahan and Parkland. The championship is set for 5 p.m. Saturday at Richland High School in Johnstown
