Rental housing owners and managers are invited to attend a free fire-safety display and demonstration today, compliments of the Centre Region Code Administration.
The event will run from noon to 2 p.m. at the Patton Township fire station, located at 2598 Greentech Drive.
The workshop is being held to make owners aware of the new fire-safety regulations for rental housing and fraternity houses, including stricter smoke-alarm and carbon-monoxide-alarm ordinances. Also, by August 15, third-floor residences will need either secondary exit routes or sprinkler systems available in case of a fire.
Fraternity houses must be sprinkler equipped by August 2008.
Today’s event, open to the public, will fill feature demonstrations of sprinklers and other equipment.
