Penn State (1-1) welcomed Saint Peter’s (0-1) to the Bryce Jordan Center for the home opener. The Lady Lions fell in the season opener at Drexel, but rebounded against the Peacocks with a 106-50 victory for the 900th win in the history of the Penn State women’s basketball program.

How It Happened

The Lady Lions kicked off the historic win with a record-setting first quarter — scoring 39 points in a single quarter. After starting the game off 10-2, the Lady Lions finished the quarter off on a 29-10 run to end with a 39-12 lead.

Penn State picked up the defense in the second quarter, allowing just six minutes in the 10 minute span. Shooting 65% from the field, the Lady Lions pushed their lead to 64-18 with 20 points from Lindsey Spann as the teams went into halftime.

Saint Peter’s couldn’t close the gap in the third quarter. The Lady Lions weren’t as deadly on offense — putting up 16 points in the quarter — but stayed strong defensively as the game went to the fourth quarter with Penn State leading 80-31.

Saint Peter’s couldn’t stop the Lady Lions’ speedy offense on the day with six Penn State players reaching double digits in points and Spann tying her career-high 31 points as the Lady Lions cruised by the Peacocks to a 106-50 win.
