Key players in Sandusky case meeting at Centre Co. Courthouse

6 News has confirmed there is a meeting currently under way between the key players in the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse case.

The meeting is happening at the courthouse in Bellefonte. Sandusky’s attorney, Joe Amendola, and prosecutors are there. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, and it was not immediately clear what Tuesday afternoon’s meeting is about.

The former Penn State University assistant football coach was charged in November and December with a total of 52 counts involving 10 boys he is accused of abusing between 1994 and 2008.  Sandusky has denied the charges against him.

Last week, The Second Mile  — the charity started by Sandusky more than three decades ago — announced it was seeking court approval to shut down.

The Second Mile said it has been financially crippled by the child-sex abuse scandal involving its founder and onetime public face and has no other option but to close. Prosecutors say Sandusky found his victims through The Second Mile.

Also last week, former Penn State University president Graham Spanier filed a civil lawsuit against the university. Spanier said he needs access to his former emails that have been held by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office. He said he needs the emails to answer questions pertaining to an investigation led by former FBI director Louis Freeh.

The university hired Freeh to conduct an internal probe to learn more about the sexual abuse allegations that occurred on the Penn State campus.
