The Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania governor will campaign at Penn State next week.

Josh Shapiro is bringing his bus tour to Centre County as part of his campaign’s “get out the vote” initiative. The local event, dubbed “Rally in the Valley,” will stretch from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, outside Old Main.

Shapiro and Democratic lieutenant governor nominee state Rep. Austin Davis will speak at the event, which is hosted in collaboration with Penn State College Democrats.

The rally is free to attend, but prospective attendees are encouraged to register online ahead of time.

Shapiro, who has been Pennsylvania’s attorney general since 2017, will face Republican nominee and Franklin County state senator Doug Mastriano in the race for governor. Mastriano will host his own campaign rally with a visit to State College on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Shapiro previously visited the area when he spoke at the Centre County Democratic Committee’s summer picnic in August. John Fetterman, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, featured at the county Democrats’ fall dinner in October. His counterpart, Republican U.S. Senate nominee Mehmet Oz, greeted Penn Staters in the tailgate lots at Beaver Stadium before the Nittany Lions played Northwestern on Oct. 1.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. Visit centrecountyvotes.gov to learn more about the upcoming election, find your polling place and review a sample ballot.
