Indictment Indicates Jerry Sandusky Will Face 40 Charges Connected To Sex Crimes

Court documents posted online and obtained by 6News on Friday afternoon indicate the former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky will face 40 charges connected to with sex crimes involving minors.

A criminal docket posted on the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System Web Portal showed that felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 16, as well as indecent assault, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children charges were filed against Gerald Sandusky.

Officials believed to be with the Attorney General’s office wouldn’t answer questions as they left District Magistrate Leslie Dutchcot’s office Friday night, but 6News has learned that formal charges have not yet been officially filed and there is no indication that Sandusky has been taken into custody.

Sources told 6News that this latest round of legal action follows a two-year grand jury investigation that started in Clinton County, where a teen accused Sandusky of inappropriate contact.

Sandusky founded the Second Mile charity in 1977 which, according to the foundation’s website, helped children across Pennsylvania to build self-confidence and physical and personal success.  

In a written statement, a representative of The Second Mile told 6News “nevertheless, as an organization that is committed first and foremost to the safety and well-being of children we serve and consistent with The Second Mile policy, Jerry Sandusky has had no involvement in The Second Mile’s children’s programs and services since he made us aware of the allegations against him in November of 2008.”
