A brilliant, sunny day, and the opportunity to help out a good cause drew hundreds of people to 5th Annual Dog Jog, Saturday morning.

That included a big crowd of people who ran with their pooches, competing in the 5K race. The Dog Jog was held at the Grange Fairgrounds in Centre Hall to raise money for Pets Come First.

Pets Come First is an animal shelter that was formerly run by the SPCA. President Deb Warner says the Dog Jog has quickly become one of the organization’s top events — an important source of funding for the shelter. Last year, the Dog Jog pulled in $38,000 and Pets Come First hopes to increase that amount this year.

That money is used to support the mission of Pets Come First; finding “forever homes” for animals and the organization’s spay and neuter program.

Participants could run in the 5k or walk through the fairgrounds with their dogs. Vendors were on hand, selling food, jewelry and lots of pet products. A silent auction also got lots of attention, with a variety of pet-themed products up for grabs.
