New to this year’s First Night performance schedule is a Centre County teen who has performed in numerous local musical and theater productions for many years.
Keri Carroll, a freshman at Bellefonte High School, is looking forward to performing at the biggest party in Central Pennsylvania this New Year’s Eve.
Carroll, 15, of Pleasant Gap, was chosen to sing at this year’s festival, and will be performing a number of musical theater pieces at Faith United Church of Christ at 2 p.m.
“I am super excited to be performing at this event,” Carroll said. “I think it’s a great opportunity to practice my skills in front of an audience.”
Caroll was encouraged to apply to perform at First Night by her voice teacher, Norman Spivey, and was thrilled to learn she had been chosen for this year’s event. She has plenty of experience on stage, having performed for Singing Onstage, FUSE Productions, State College Community Theater and in high school performances. She also has performed the national anthem at athletic events and was a semifinalist in Centre Sings. She has been the lead in stage productions such as “Annie” and “Little Women.”
Having been a performer since she was 8 years old, her singing career started at a family wedding. Now, she will have a solo performance at First Night State College.
“When I was 9, I started performing on stage in shows. Now, I do about two to four each year and I hope one day to major in musical theater in college and train for a career on Broadway,” Carroll said.
