Earlier report, posted @ 6:45 p.m. Monday:

‘A small allotment’ of tickets for President Barack Obama’s Rec Hall appearance may be made available for distribution, Penn State spokeswoman Lisa Powers reported Monday evening.

But ‘at this point, the White House would have to determine that,’ she wrote in an e-mail message to StateCollege.com.

No other details were immediately available.

The White House reported Saturday that attendance at Obama’s Rec Hall appearance, scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, would be by invitation only.

A inquiry left with a White House communications office Monday evening was not immediately answered.

Meanwhile, dicey weather forecasts in central Pennsylvania have raised speculation about whether Obama will need to defer his University Park trip to another date. To that end, Powers noted that ‘the decision to postpone or cancel is up to the White House.

‘We have not heard any official word,’ she wrote.

Obama is expected to focus his visit largely on energy research, touring university laboratories while he’s on campus. StateCollege.com will continue to post new information as it becomes available.
