The Centre County Solid Waste Authority will collect a variety of hazardous household wastes Saturday, the authority announced. It will charge no fee for the service.

Insecticides, weed killers, pool chemicals, cleaners, poisons, corrosives, flammables, oil-based paints and most other hazardous household chemicals will be accepted at the collection event. But the authority will not be accepting latex paint, used motor oil, medications or alkaline batteries, according to a press release.

The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the authority’s facility near the Nittany Mall. It’s situated along Transfer Road just off of state Route 26.

Anyone with questions may call the authority at (814) 238-7005 or send e-mail to wasted5@uplink.net.
