The Centre Area Transportation Authority will hold a public hearing this month on service changes proposed to go into effect for the fall.
The hearing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 23 in the Downsbrough Community Room at Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 S. Allen St. State College. A virtual attendance option will be made available at catabus.com/proposed-fall25-26-service.
Proposed changes would go into effect with the start of the full service schedule on Aug. 25. They include:
• The Bellefonte/Benner B-Line will be discontinued because both Bellefonte and Benner Township are withdrawing from CATA effective July 1. Bellefonte Borough is working with Centre County Transportation Services to help fill in the gap in service for its residents.
• Red Link will increase peak frequency to every 12 minutes from Monday to Tuesday during CATA’s full service schedule.
• All three CATA Go on-demand microtransit service zones will be expanded to reach the outer township lines. With the expansion, all locations within CATA’s member municipalities will have access to CATA Bus or CATA Go.
• Fares for CATA Bus and CATA Go are expected to increase by 14% from $2.20 to $2.50. It would be the first fare increase for those services since 2020.
In addition to the public hearing, members of the public can submit comments on the proposed changes by emailing comments@catabus.com or contacting CATA’s Customer Service Center at (814) 238-CATA(2282) during normal business hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. Comments will be accepted until noon on June 25.
Those attending the public hearing who need special accommodations related to language, sight or hearing should call (814) 238-CATA(2282) ext. 5131 or email cata@catabus.com at least five days prior to the hearing.
