A car crashed into a State College house Friday morning, marking the second time in seven months the same home has been struck by a speeding vehicle. This time, however, the crash resulted in no injuries, according to Alpha Fire Company.
At about 6:50 a.m., Alpha Fire Police witnessed a car spin out of control and crash into the house at 333 S. Atherton St., located at the corner of West Nittany Avenue and South Atherton. Alpha personnel were dispatched to the scene and stabilized the damaged corner of the house’s foundation with cribbing.
A Centre Region Code Administration inspector responded and determined the house had sustained structural damage but was still inhabitable, according to Alpha.
Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, Alpha reported. State College police said the crash is still under investigation and could not yet release further information.
In September, Penn State student Kaijing Tang died after he lost control of his Chevrolet Corvette and crashed into a tree near the same house. The car split in half, with part of it striking the exterior of the house and causing minor damage. Police said speed played a factor in that crash.
