Food insecurity is a problem on college campuses nationwide, as many students do not have reliable access to enough nutritious food.

In 2014, the Lion’s Pantry was created to help Penn State students facing that situation. One way Lion’s Pantry has brought awareness to the issue was through its ‘Canstruction’ event this week.

‘The overall goal is to make people aware of food insecurity, being here as an organization and showing what we do, and knowing that students have this as a resource,’ said Lion’s Pantry President Tiana Williams. ‘But also it’s a creative way for different organizations to collaborate on an issue that is felt so strongly among all of us.’

Different organizations participated in the event, building structures entirely out of canned goods, all of which were then donated to the Lion’s Pantry.
