Court papework, obtained by 6 News, concerning sex abuse allegations against former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky were entered into the state crimial docket system Friday.
Sandusky, who was at one point considered Joe Paterno’s likely replacement as head coach, has not been formally charged, but after a joint investigation between the Pennsylvania State Police and the state Attorney General’s office, the former defensive coordinator is now accused of having inappropirate contact with a minor.
The filing follows a more than two-year grand jury investigation that started after a Clinton County teen accused Sandusky of having innappropriate contact.
State court documents show that there were allegations that date back to 1995. According to the paperwork, there are 40 counts against Sandusky.
Sandusky had founded the Second Mile charity in 1977 which, according to the foundation’s website, helped children across Pennsylvania to build self-confidence and physical and personal success. He retired from the charity last fall saying he wanted to spend more time with family and to handle personal matters.
