At the State College Area School District board meeting last night, an agenda item was changed from an update to an action item that board members were then asked to vote on.  The switch requested regarded Plan Con D, the latest step the school board must go through with the state Department of Education in order to be considered for reimbursement on the project.

The state approval, received yesterday morning, acknowledged the reduced cost of $97.6 million for the high school facilities project.

Following this agenda item, Board member Donna Queeny addressed the attendees in the audience.  “It’s time to take down the signs, stop the attacks and lack of civility, and work to heal the wounds in this community,” Queeny said.

The Board earlier this year decided to stop plans on the South Building and re-evaluate them at a later time.

Board members reprimanded several community members who spoke last night, telling them to “move on” and asking them not to cause further disruption in the process or in the community.  After the discussion about the Plan Con D documents, the Board took an uncharacteristic break, and then resumed with the rest of the agenda.
