A former Penn State student and current inmate was arraigned on Wednesday in connection with a 2010 burglary and trespassing on campus that cost Penn State at least $500.
Mason Worley faces charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft of more than $200 and receiving stolen property, according to the daily police log. Penn State Police Chief Tyrone Parham said that in March 2010, a window was smashed in and a computer was stolen at the Buckhout Building.
Blood was smeared on the crime scene, Parham said, and samples were submitted to the state police crime lab. Later, police received a profile match that the blood found at the scene was Worley’s.
Worley was arraigned at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday before Centre County District Judge Ronald Horner and was remanded to the Centre County Correctional Facility on a $20,000 bail.
Parham said the stolen computer’s estimated cost is $500 and could not provide an estimate on the damaged window.
Worley was already serving time in jail for a series of car arsons he admitted to starting in 2010. He was incarcerated in October 2011.
