Penn State’s Annual Pumpkin Festival kicked off this week with a pumpkin giveaway and continues with the jack-‘o-lantern contest and other festivities on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the festival will have the first night of the lighted jack-o’-lantern display from 6 to 9 p.m., with hundreds of carved pumpkins to be judged and arranged on the event lawn for viewing. On Saturday, the festival will have family activities from 4 to 6 p.m., with the lighted display from 6-9 p.m. Bluegrass Redemption will play at the Overlook Pavilion from 5 to 8 p.m. and food vendors will be on site

Centre County Report’s Samantha Goldstein previews the weekend festival and visited with participants who came to the arboretum to pick out the perfect pumpkins.
