Another Pre-Trial Hearing Set in Sandusky Case; Amendola to Argue for Information Release

Another pre-trial court hearing has been scheduled in the Jerry Sandusky child-sexual-abuse case.

Arguments will be heard starting at 11 a.m. Monday at the Centre County Courthouse, in Bellefonte, presiding Judge John M. Cleland ruled Tuesday.

The hearing will hinge on a defense request for a more-specific Bill of Particulars in the case’s pre-trial discovery phase. In a Friday filing, lead Sandusky attorney Joseph Amendola said he wants the state prosecution to share the precise times, dates and days of the week when Sandusky’s alleged offenses happened.

Among other sought-after details, he wants to know the specific locations where the activity is reported to have happened, along with “the identity of the individuals who were present at the location or in close proximity thereto … when the alleged illegal activity occurred … .”

Sandusky, 68, of College Township, is facing 52 criminal counts in the case. Jury selection in his anticipated trial is tentatively set for May 14.

The former Penn State assistant football coach last appeared in court for a hearing Feb. 10, when Amendola argued — successfully — for a loosening of Sandusky’s bail restrictions. Sandusky remains under house arrest, but is now able to have supervised visits with his grandchildren and with a select number of friends.
