Centre County Adds 25 COVID-19 Cases; Pennsylvania Reports 2,128 New Positives

Centre County reported 25 COVID-19 cases on Friday to bring its total to 17,376, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Pennsylvania added 2,128 positives to increase the statewide total to 1,261,903.

The county also reported 83 negative test results for a total of 74,510. Statewide, there were 7,902 new negatives for a total of 5,051,076.

Centre County remains at the substantial level for community transmission of COVID-19 — the second highest on the Centers for Disease Control scale — as of the CDC’s latest county-level data update on Thursday afternoon. Neighboring Clinton and Clearfield counties are at the highest level, while Blair, Huntingdon, Mifflin and Union are also at substantial.

According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, 11 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Centre County, two more than on Thursday. Two are in intensive care and one is on a ventilator [-1].

Statewide, Pennsylvania has 1,326 COVID-19 inpatients, an increase of 21 since Thursday, with 335 in intensive care [-3] and 164 on ventilators [+4]. COVID hospitalizations are at their highest level in three months.

DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus among Centre County residents, keeping the total at 230.

With 19 new COVID-19 deaths, Pennsylvania’s total is now 28,059.

An estimated 95% of COVID-19 patients in the state have recovered, according to a DOH calculation.

As of Friday morning, 79,520 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated and 6,229 are partially covered.

Vaccination appointments for ages 12 and older are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
