Centre County reported 111 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday to increase its total to 33,273, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Among total cases, 29,642 are confirmed and 3,631 are probable.
The county’s seven-day moving average for new cases per day is 158, down from 235 a week ago and 298 two weeks ago.
Pennsylvania added 7,340 new positives statewide — the lowest single-day increase since Dec. 26 — to bring the statewide total to 2,656,587. The statewide seven-day moving average is 12,012, down from 16,254 last week and 27,641 two weeks ago.
Hospitalizations
Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 hospitalizations fell below 5,000 for the first time since Dec. 29. According to the DOH hospital preparedness dashboard, 4,759 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized statewide, 325 fewer than on Saturday, with 788 patients in intensive care [-36] and 513 on ventilators [-20].
Centre County has 48 COVID-19 inpatients, one fewer than on Saturday, with four in intensive care and four on ventilators.
Deaths
DOH reported no new deaths attributed to the virus in Centre County, keeping the the total at 321.
With 15 new COVID-19 deaths identified by the Pennsylvania death registry, the statewide total is now 40,563.
Nursing and Personal Care Home Cases
Long-term care facilities in Centre County reported no new COVID-19 cases among residents and employees. A total of 20 nursing and personal care homes in the county have had a combined 743 resident cases, 714 employee cases and 180 resident deaths.
Prison cases
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Benner state prison has 11 active COVID-19 cases among inmates and 23 among staff.
Rockview state prison has 46 active inmate cases and 46 among staff.
Both facilities are in Benner Township.
At Benner, 1,473 inmates are fully vaccinated, 13 are partially vaccinated and 192 are not vaccinated. Among staff, 308 are fully vaccinated and 320 are not vaccinated.
Rockview has 1,714 inmates who are fully vaccinated and 59 who are not vaccinated. Among staff, 342 are fully vaccinated and 375 are not vaccinated.
Transmission level
All 67 counties in Pennsylvania are at the highest level for community transmission of COVID-19 on the Centers for Disease Control scale, according to the latest county-level data update.
Transmission levels are based on positivity rate and cases per 100,000 people for the previous seven days. At the substantial and high levels, CDC guidance recommends all people, regardless of vaccination status, wear masks in public indoor settings.
Vaccinations
As of Sunday morning, 92,962 people in Centre County are fully vaccinated, an increase of 32 since Saturday, and 14,050 are partially covered [+24]. Booster doses have been administered to 46,987 county residents [+89].
Among the county’s entire population, 68.5% have received at least one dose, 58.3% are fully vaccinated and 49.4% are fully vaccinated with a booster, according to the CDC. Among adult residents, 73.8% have received at least one dose, 62.6% are fully vaccinated and 52% have received a booster.
Statewide, 75.6% of adults and 65.7% of the total population are fully vaccinated.
Vaccination appointments are available through Centre Volunteers in Medicine, Mount Nittany Health and through other pharmacies and providers listed at vaccines.gov.
All individuals age 12 and older are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot.
