The Central PA Region chapter of the Sports Car Club of America raised $1,500 for Jana Marie Foundation and collected 230 pounds of food for the Faith Centre Food Bank in Bellefonte at its annual charity road rally.
The 56th annual Witches Rallye held on Nov. 1 welcomed 29 teams that embarked on a driving scavenger hunt, guided by a packet of cryptic clues, to find various checkpoints along the roads of central Pennsylvania.
“This year was a record,” says Chris Paveglio, the SCCA chapter’s assistant regional executive and RallyeMaster. “This was the most teams participating in more than 12 years. In the end [there were] 29 teams. I saw online registrations coming in until the deadline. We have some families that have participated for four plus years in a row and, of course, new teams coming for the first time.
“The atmosphere is so exciting when we have the team meeting before we send off the first car. Everyone is in their costumes, excited to get started and win the event, but it’s so friendly. Everyone is there for the fun. We are so grateful for everyone who participated and for their money and food donations; it’s very heartwarming.”
Since 2012, Jana Marie Foundation has worked to knock down walls and stigma surrounding mental health and suicide awareness. Through dialogue and creative expression, the foundation’s work sparks conversations, builds connections and promotes mental well-being among young people and their communities.
