State College Area Roller (SCAR) Derby will face off with Central Pa. rivals the Susquehanna Valley Derby Vixens (SVDV) on Saturday to benefit a good local cause.
Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. for the 5 p.m. first whistle at the C3 Sports Complex, 200 Ellis Place, State College. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
While spectators can expect an edge-of-their-seats matchup and thrilling roller derby action between the two rivals, the event will be about more than just the sport.
Instead of purchasing tickets, organizers ask that fans bring a donation for the State College Food Bank, including canned goods, non-perishable food items or a monetary contribution.
Both teams are excited about the idea of making a positive impact on those in need, according to a news release.
“We are thrilled to host this electrifying derby game between SCAR and SVDV,” marketing director Vanessa Rodriguez said. “It’s not just about the intense competition on the track, but also fostering a sense of unity within our community. By supporting the State College Food Bank, we can make a difference together while enjoying an unforgettable evening of roller derby action.”
