The State College Downtown Rotary Club welcomed community members to its annual Ice Cream Fest on Saturday on the 200 block of South Allen Street.
Samples were provided by Pelican’s SnoBalls, Vale Wood Farms, Wegmans, Trader Joe’s, Ritchey’s Dairy, Meyer Dairy Store, Cold Stone Creamery and Sunset Slush Happy Valley.
It marked the eighth year of the festival, and Carol Walsh, a Rotary member and past district governor of the Rotary Club, said this year’s event was a success.
“It has so far been really successful. We are seeing a lot of new people at the festival this year,” she said. “The Rotary Club is a great organization. It feels good giving back to the community.”

Proceeds from the festival will benefit local nonprofits through the club’s annual grant distribution.
Local high school football teams competed in a Dilly Bar eating contest during the festival. Teams included State High, Bellefonte, Bald Eagle and Penns Valley, with State High winning the competition.
Ice Cream Fest also feature other activities, including face painting, animal balloons, and kazoo making, and pinewood derby races. For more information about State College Downtown Rotary, visit downtownstatecollegerotary.org.
