Big Spring Spirits will host a Valentine-making session as well as a “Swiftie”-themed Super Bowl watch Party as fundraisers for Centre Safe on Sunday, Feb. 9 at its Bellefonte tasting room.

The events offer two ways for community members to support Centre Safe, which provides support to survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and stalking.

The first will take place from noon to 3 p.m. when guests are encouraged to visit the tasting room, located at 198 Match Factory Place, and create a Valentine for the distillery’s Centre Safe “Wall of Love” for $10. For each Valentine purchased, Centre Safe will receive $5, and guests can enjoy a complimentary tap cocktail, slushie or highball. Art supplies will be provided.

Then starting at 5 p.m., Big Spring Spirits will host a football watch party for Taylor Swift fans. For $10 admission, guests will enjoy a TSwift playlist, music bingo, trivia and a guess-the-camera-pans contest. Customers are encouraged to dress from their favorite era, and there will also be a Taylor look-alike contest. Merchandise and gift cards will be awarded to contest and game winners.

Centre Safe will receive $5 from each ticket sold. Tickets for the watch party can be purchased online door the day of the event.

Centre Safe is celebrating 50 years of honoring and supporting victims and survivors of sexual  assault, domestic and dating violence and stalking in Centre County. From emergency  shelter and housing to counseling, advocacy, a 24/7 hotline, hospital and courthouse  accompaniment, outreach, education, free legal services and supervised visitation and  safe custody exchanges, Centre Safe and its staff work to create a safety net for those who have experienced or are experiencing trauma.

Each year, Centre Safe, formerly called the Centre County Women’s Resource Center, supports approximately 900 survivors of domestic violence, 200 sexual assault survivors and another 200 individuals/families needing some form of shelter or housing. Clients include people of all ages, identities, backgrounds and lived experiences.

“We wouldn’t be able to provide these critical services or help as many people as we do  each year without the amazing support of community supporters like Big Spring Spirits,”  said Jennifer Pencek, executive director of Centre Safe. “It really is on all of us to play a  role in the prevention of these crimes and show authentic support to those who have experienced trauma.”
