Arts Festival Accepting Entries for Images 2024 Exhibition

The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts has issued a call for entries for its juried fine art exhibition, Images 2024. The exhibition will run from July 1-31 at Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 S. Allen St.

Artists 16 and older whose primary residence is in Pennsylvania can submit applications for entry until May 3 at arts-festival.com/images-juried-exhibition. Eligible 2D media include drawings, paintings, pastels, mixed media, photography, hand-pulled prints, watercolors, fiber, paper and digital art. Digital images of original work produced after January 1, 2021 may be submitted.

Danny Volk, assistant curator of the Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg, will be the juror for this year’s exhibition. He was previously the Terra Foundation for American Art Curatorial Fellow at The Westmoreland, where he organized “Breaking Ground: Landscape and Labor in Southwestern Pennsylvania” in 2023.

Volk’s prior curatorial work includes multiple projects in Chicago and Cleveland, and he is the recipient of numerous grants for the arts.

A total of $1,800 in cash prizes will be awarded for Images 2024, including for Best of Show ($500), Best Painting ($200), Best Pastel ($200), Best Photograph ($200), four merit awards ($150 each) and Best Student Submission ($100).  Winners will be announced at an awards reception during the festival on July 11.

Images 2024 is one facet of the 58th Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, which will be held July 10-14 in downtown State College and on Penn State’s University Park campus.
