Days Inn has returned to the State College area.
The former Quality Inn at 1274 N. Atherton St. has been converted to a Days Inn by Wyndham, State College-based operator Hospitality Asset Management Company (HAMCO) announced on Wednesday.
HAMCO previously owned the Days Inn that operated for more than 30 years at 240 S. Pugh St. in State College. The building, which also included Brewsky’s Bottle Shop and Mad Mex restaurant, was sold in early 2022 and razed for construction of a six-story apartment building.
“We are thrilled to unveil the new Days Inn by Wyndham State College,” Edward Tubbs, chief operating officer for HAMCO, said in a statement. “By joining the Wyndham family, we are poised to deliver unparalleled guest satisfaction, uphold the highest standards of quality and provide exceptional value for our guests’ stay in State College as they had been accustomed to at our downtown Days Inn location for decades.”
The Atherton Street property was originally constructed in 1998 as a Motel 6 and converted to a Quality Inn in 2009.
With the change to Days Inn, several upgrades will be made to the hotel, including “refreshed guest rooms, a modern and inviting lobby area and an array of added conveniences designed to elevate the overall guest experience,” according to a news release.
Amenities include complimentary breakfast, free high-speed Wi-Fi and “a range of services tailored to meet the needs of today’s travelers.”
“This strategic transition marks an exciting chapter for the hotel, as it joins the renowned Wyndham family and brings a new level of comfort, convenience and quality to its valued guests,” according to the release.
