Starbucks newest State College location is now open.
The national coffee chain’s store on the ground floor of the Pugh Centre, 150 E. Beaver Ave., opened on Friday morning. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
It replaces the Starbucks shop formerly located in Centre Court at 141 S. Garner St., which closed in January in preparation for the move to the new spot.
One of eight Starbucks locations in the State College area and one of the company’s standalone stores in the Centre Region, the new shop is the first retail business in the seven-story Pugh Centre, which opened in 2020. The building has 5,800 square feet of retail space and five residential floors with 55 apartments.
Elsewhere in the area, the Starbucks in Penn State’s HUB-Robeson Center temporarily closed on May 5 to undergo a large scale renovation. The location, which is owned and operated by Penn State Auxiliary and Business Services, is expected to reopen for the fall semester at nearly double its previous size and with increased beverage and food options.
