A new shop set to open in downtown State College will offer a curated selection of items highlighting the local community and Pennsylvania.
Town Pride State College is scheduled to open on April 5 at 240 E. Calder Way. The store will offer “high-quality, locally-inspired” apparel such as custom-designed sweaters, sweatshirts and hats, as well as gifts and home goods “that allow residents and visitors to showcase their love for State College and Pennsylvania,” according to a news release.
The 1,000-square-foot State College store is the first full franchise location for Town Pride, a Maine-based vendor of custom-made clothes and gifts focused on local communities. Town Pride products are American-made and sourced from female- and family-owned makers across the country, with a focus on sustainable business practices, according to the company.
“We are incredibly proud to bring Town Pride’s unique offerings to State College and Central PA.” Lisa Farren, owner of Town Pride State College, said in a statement. “Our mission is to celebrate the community and all it has to offer, and we look forward to collaborating with both locals and organizations to create something truly special.”
The grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 5 will include a cold brew bar from Vibe Coffee.
The store is also partnering with Leadership Centre County to host a food drive benefiting the State College Food Bank April 5-6. Community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable foods, hygiene and home essentials or make a monetary donation. Those who donate $20 worth of goods or make a $20 monetary donation will receive 20% off their first purchase.

While preparing the store for opening, Town Pride State College has recently sold some of its items, such as T-shirts, knit sweaters, scarves, hoodies and coffee mugs, at Tussey Mountain in Boalsburg.
Farren is no stranger to the State College business community. She operated the popup shop Gameday Gear on Calder Way, right next door to the new Town Pride shop, last September, selling high-quality Penn State apparel, art and jewelry.
