A central Pennsylvania-based restaurant chain is set to expand next year with a new location in the State College area.

Marzoni’s Brick Oven & Brewing Co. is planning to move into the former TGI Fridays at 1215 N. Atherton St. Once it’s open in 2023, the restaurant will be the family-friendly chain’s fifth franchise in Pennsylvania.

Marzoni’s announced the move on its website this week. A “coming soon” sign is posted outside the restaurant, which has stood vacant since 2020 when TGI Fridays closed after nearly 15 years in business.

“Our brand new location is continuing the Marzoni’s mission of providing ‘good food, good beer, and good times,’” the company wrote online.

While an opening date isn’t available yet, Marzoni’s is already hiring managers for its State College location. Applications are available online.

Established in 2003, Marzoni’s specializes in hand-made brick-oven pizzas, Italian-American cuisine and lagers and ales from its Blair County-based microbrewery. Each restaurant serves the chain’s seven signature beers and boasts a menu offering pizzas, pastas, steaks, seafood dishes, sandwiches and more.

Marzoni’s currently owns and operates four Pennsylvania restaurants in Altoona, Duncansville, Mechanicsburg and Selinsgrove.

Although the State College restaurant’s hours are not yet available, Marzoni’s franchises typically operate from between 11 a.m. and 9 or 10 p.m. each day. The company’s Mechanicsburg and Selinsgrove restaurants are closed on Mondays.
