The owner of three Centre County Jersey Mike’s Subs locations recently acquired a Bellefonte property that has been vacant for nearly two years.

Cedar Cliff Properties LLC, which has been used by the sandwich shop chain’s local franchisees Matt and Christie Patterson to develop Jersey Mike’s locations, purchased the former Rite Aid property at 821 E. Bishop St. on Oct. 14 for $1.5 million, according to county records.

Through a spokesperson, Matt Patterson confirmed the acquisition of the property and said that “plans for it are being finalized.” He did not say whether a Jersey Mike’s would be part of those plans, and there is a “for lease” sign in the parking lot.

If it does become a Jersey Mike’s, it would be the Pattersons’ fourth in Centre County and first outside of the State College area. The couple owns and operates Jersey Mike’s stores at 2009 N. Atherton St., 2135 S. Atherton St. and 454 Shiloh Road, which is the newest of the three and opened in 2024.

The Bellefonte Rite Aid closed in late 2023. The company has since closed all of its stores, including two others in Centre County, after filing for bankruptcy.
