The Waffle Shop in downtown State College has reopened after being closed for nearly a month following a fire.

The popular breakfast spot at 364 E. College Ave. had a grand reopening on Sunday.

Alpha Fire Company responded at about 8:40 p.m. on Oct. 10 after smoke was seen coming from the building. Crews found a fire in the rear of the building and quickly extinguished it, but it caused extensive smoke damage to the restaurant.

No one was injured in the fire.

During the closure, the restaurant encouraged customers to visit the Bellefonte Waffle Shop. Both locations are owned by Duane Reese.

The Downtown State College Waffle Shop is open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
